Verified dog-friendly The Packhorse
Saved by the local community, The Packhorse in South Stoke is an award-winning historic puboffering fine real ales, roaring log fires, and a charming, dog-friendly retreat for walkersexploring the countryside just outside Bath.
Dogs are welcome in the main bar and in the garden, courtyard and terrace seating.
The building is Grade II listed but it closed in 2012 and faced conversion to a house. However, villagers then bought it through a community share issue that raised £601,000 from over 200 investors, and it reopened in March 2018.
It’s now community-owned and community-run, with real ales including a Butcombe and a guest ale. The rear garden is overlooked by the church and has a covered area, which helps on wet days.
